Empties #2
Time for another batch of empties products but first of all i apologise for not putting up a blogpost in aggesss. I've just finished my first year of a levels and so have been spending a lot of my time revising and blogging got pushed under the hierarchy but with lots more free time now I'm hoping to be writing more posts. Anyway enough of the rambling!
Benefit They're Real Mascara
Once this product goes, it goes! I found that it was fine and normal one day, then the next..BAM, no longer usable! This mascara has had a fair bit of hype, with many people saying its their favourite mascara and although i do think its good i wont be repurchasing at the minute, its just a little bit too pricey for my already tight budget. I also think you can find just as good, even better 'drugstore' mascaras at half the price.
Avon Glimmerstick Brow Define- Blonde
For only a couple of pounds, this was a really nice pencil. It was quite waxy which i found made it run out really quick but i cant complain as it was a great colour match for my eyebrows and made doing my eyebrows much quicker. I'm not going to repurchase for now, i seem to be in a 'testing out lots of different products mood' but i know i can always fall back on that one if needs be.
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation
I wrote about this foundation a couple of blog posts ago and i still have a love/hate relationship with it, no yet deciding how much i like it yet.
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
I've already talked about this loads on my blog and so have loads of other people so I'm not going to bore you with it but that's another bottle done and dusted with and another one on the go already!
Vichy Idealia Day Cream
I received this in a glossybox a fair few months ago and after using everyday for a couple of weeks it slipped under my radar until i rediscovered it not long ago. It feels so luxurious and rich and i also love the smell.

I also got this in a glossybox and i loved the idea of it clearing those dreaded spots but I'm not sure how well it actually worked. I don't want to say it doesn't work as you may need a bigger bottle and have to use it for longer or it may work perfectly on other people's skin, however it just didn't seem to do much for me.
Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream
Another glossybox product and i was especially excited to try this as its meant to smooth away dark shadows and that is one of my biggest bugs with my skin but i didn't notice much of a difference. Although, i do know that lots of people love it and swear by it.

Ruby Hammer Nail Polishes Review
I received a set of the Ruby Hammer Nail polishes as a present a while back and was really looking forward to using them as I'd seen Ruby Hammer a lot on T.V and had always thought she was a great make up artist, so i was expecting good quality nail varnishes. I was wrong (dramatic!)
The set comes with 6 polishes with a really nice colour range (another reason to feel growing expectation) which also included a glittery top coat. However this is where the positivity ends...First of all i found that none of the colours had any intensity, probably down to the watery consistency, and you had to do a number of coats for it to look anything like what it does in the bottle. As their drying, the polishes have a nice finish, quite shiny and glossy but once they dries it loses this and just looks really unattractive, though its really hard to put into words the finish of it. Even with my favourite top coat on it doesn't look glossy, which normally works a treat!
The next problem is with how long it lasts. After barely any time, a day or so the nail varnish either peels all the way off in one go or chips a hell of a lot. This is one thing i find extremely annoying and frustrating! The glittery nail polish, however, was one i did like as i loved to glam up any colour with a sparkly finish. After forgetting about having this for a couple of months i rediscovered it and was excited to use it again, until i opened it and was shocked about how gloopy and totally unusable it was. Now, a month or so after that it has completely dried up and i don't know whether its because its glittery its dried up that much but I've never known a varnish become unusable so soon.
I really don't want to dislike these as i love the colours but every time i use them i get the same sense of annoyment, sorry Ruby Hammer! :(

Face Of The Day!
I thought id do a post on the look I've being doing most days which is natural, fresh and super easy. It was only meant to be small but i seemed to have got carried away, hope its not too boring, enjoy!
For the base I've been using Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Foundation (100 Ivory) which i have mixed opinions on, sometimes loving it and sometimes feeling its not doing that much, i really can't put my finger on it. But, for everyday and the price of it (£6.99) you really cant go that wrong. To apply it i use the obligatory Real Techniques Buffing Brush which i adore and cannot apply foundation in any other way now other than this!
The concealer I've been using is Benefit Erase Paste (No.1 fair) which is pricey, normally retailing for £19.50 however i picked it up at a little less shocking £14.50 from Buya Powa- my saviour! If you don't know what Buya Powa is, here's my short blogpost about it http://cat1831.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/buyapowa.html. Although it seems tiny for such an expensive product it has lasted me ages however i am unsure whether i will be repurchasing when it finally does run out. I massage the concealer in with a mix of my ring finger or the Real Techniques Pointed Foundation Brush which comes in the core collection along with the buffing brush for £21.99.
Next is eyebrows and for this I've been using the Avon Glimmerstick Brow Definer (blonde) which is almost gone! I move back on to the skin and use the Daniel Sandler Watercolour Creme Bronzer in Riveria to bronze/contour with the contour brush from the real techniques collection. Its then time for blusher and for this I've been loving Mac Powder Blush in Well Dressed, a really pretty light pink with light shimmer in it and I've been applying it with the Avon Angled Contouring brush. I then have been applying the Avon Illuminating Face Pearls as a highlight and an all over light glow, once again with the Real Techniques Contour brush.
Its then back on to they eyes and I've been loving doing nothing but mascara for a fresh faced look and so first thing is to curl my lashes with the Shu Umera Eyelash Curlers which is now a must-do thing for me. In my previous blog post i wrote about trying new mascaras and I've been really enjoying the one featured there: Maybelline Great Lash Blackest Black Mascara.
Now on to lips and recently I've been loving Avon Lipstick- Carnation which adds a pop of colour and is great for everyday when you want something reasonably bright but not too bright like a red or coral! And finally, i like to powder and for this i use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and as my skin has been really dry i like to only apply it to anywhere that it is really needed such as under the eyes, around the nose and on the chin.

I've wanted these eyelash curlers for a while now but i always thought; are they that good? and do i really need another pair? Every person and their dog who are into beauty seem to own these and I've seen makeup artists say that these are the best curlers they've used so i finally decided to bite the bullet and buy them!
-Maybelline Great Lash Blackest Black Mascara
The current mascara I'm using is nearly finished with, and instead of repurchasing the same mascara I've decided I'm going to try out lots of drugstore/ boots/ superdrug mascaras. This one just caught my eye so I'm going to give it a whizz.
-Daniel Sandler Watercolour Creme Bronzer: Riviera
Ive been really into my cream products recently as my skin has been super dry and i love the glow that cream products give. I saw this on my daily stalk of the feel unique website and thought it looked gorgeous and it just had to be mine!
-Advanced Techniques Sectioning clips
This is just a boring basic purchase but i always seem to lose sectioning clips, along with bobbles and grips! As the name suggests i just use these to section off my hair to make it easier when blowdrying/ straightening/ curling.
-Advanced Techniques Heat Proof Mat and Case
This is another boring buy and just an essential to stop hair tools from burning my desk.
Pamper Sesh- Facial!
About once a week or so, i love to set aside a bit of time to give myself a facial, not only does it help your skin, keeping it super soft and clean but it's also relaxing and a pick me up on a 'bleurghh' day.
1) Start off by washing your face either to remove makeup and any dirt with a cleanser of facial wash. My favourite and a holy grail product of mine is Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish.
2) Next, use a scrub or exfoliater to whisk away dead surface skin cells and clear blocked pores. I'm loving dermalogica daily microfoliant at the minute, which i received in a glossybox a couple of months ago. It's a rise based powder that you mix with water to create a paste, before massaging onto the face.
3) Fill a bowl with a kettleful of freshly boiled water, then lean over the bowl, capturing the steam by placing a towel over your head. Stay there for around 5 minutes to allow the steam to warm and soften your skin although people with sensitive skin should skip this step.
4) Put on a face mask of your choice and leave for the required time before washing off. I've been loving the Avon planet spa face mask gift set which has lots of small packets of face masks suitable for different skin types and needs. The amount given is perfect as i often find that there is too much when using other face masks.
5) Finish off your pamper session by doing the same night time skincare routine as usual.
