Summer beauty essentials: Makeup and Nails

Thursday, 8 August 2013
Like in fashion, trends change during the four seasons and this is no different in how your beauty essentials change in the summer months to keep you looking fresh and achieving that perfect summer glow.
Here are just a few of the products I've been loving so far this summer.
Makeup:

Bourjois healthy mix serum- 52
It's nice in the summer months to have a much lighter base so your face doesn't feel cakey and makeup is much less likely to sweat off in the heat and I've been loving this foundation. Its lightweight and gives a glow in the right places, looking natural yet covering what needs to be covered. I don't know if it is just me but in the summer my skin tends to be a lot clearer due to the vitamins from the sun and generally just being outside more.

Nars Laguna Bronzer
Bronzer is a must have in the summer and like many people Nars Laguna is the choice for me. I'm a newbie when it comes to having this is in my collection although i had wanted it for ages and I've usually been putting it basically all over; cheeks, temples, forehead, down the nose and a dash on the chin (yeah everywhere), to tan my face a little and leave me with a bronzed glow.

Benefit Posie Tint
A cream blush keeps the skin glowy and adds a natural hint of colour and this poppy pink shade gives a really pretty flush to your cheeks, keeping you looking fresh.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick- 12
I love wearing a bright coral/ orange lip at this time of the year as it just screams summer and can make it look like you've spent ages doing your makeup, when it actually fact you've done a 5 minute speed job! I love the Kate Moss lipsticks, they have great pigmentation and lasting power and this shade is really flattering on all skin tones.

Nails:

Rimmel London Lycra Pro- Coral Romance
As the name suggests, this is a bright coral and as I've already mentioned, you cant go
wrong with coral in the summer! The brush is really wide and so you can paint your nail in only a couple of strokes, meaning your much less likely to go wrong (yay!)

Nails Inc- Royal botanical Gardens

I really like Nails Inc nail varnishes, they do some gorgeous shades and they last really well on my nails. I love this new colour and its perfect for summer!

Essie- Fiji
Yep, its the classic Essie Fiji. This is typed and talked about so much but it really is a lovely colour which looks even better with a tan. For anyone that's been living under a rock, its a very light pinkish white and i just LOVE the way it looks!

Rimmel Haulin'

Tuesday, 16 July 2013
I was having my daily stalk of the asos website and noticed the 30% off Rimmel sale and i couldn't let this opportunity pass after eyeing up a number of their products over the past few weeks.

Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick- 107
I love the Kate Moss lipsticks, the pigmentation is great and the colour lasts all day and I'd been wanting this shade for a while. It's a dark red, slightly berryish and i cant wait to wear it, especially in the winter!

Apocalips lip lacquer- Luna + Big Bang
So much has been said around these and I'm late on the scene in terms of picking some up. I'm not going to go in great detail about these as I'm sure you've heard way too much about them. They're basically a liquid lipstick, meant to have the intense rich colour of a lipstick but with the satin shine of a lipgloss. These two colours excited me the most; Luna a peachy shade and Big Bang a bright red.

Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal- Nude 005
There's also been a fair bitta love for these eyeliners and i needed a new nude to brighten and waken up my eyes on those early mornings and so i thought i might as well give this a pop!

Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick- Bulletproof Beige 002
This product is in the same line as the eyeliner and I've recently seen more people talk about these and after looking through the shades this one (as well as the bronze shade) caught my eye. I decided to go for this as I've already got similar bronzey shades. This is going to be great either for a super quick wash of colour when your in a rush or also as a base to help other eye shadows cling to.

If you would like a review on any of these products, leave a comment below. Rimmel is fast becoming my favourite 'drugstore' makeup brand as they keep on delivering with products and my Rimmel collection is ever growing!

Shower Essentials

Monday, 8 July 2013
Over the past few weeks, months even, I've come to love 2 products for the shower which try and help me achieve glowing, soft and great smelling skin.

Anatomicals Don't Just Clean It Woman, Scrub It Body Scrub
You might have seen me mention this product before as i received it, like many people probably did, in a glossybox a fair few months ago. Ever since i got it, I've continued to use it week after week. I do use other scrubs as well, yet i always come back to this one as it is more of a daily scrub so a lot less harsh than others and doesn't leave any residue making it perfect for everyday use. I really love the packaging and the name, its all so simple yet really cute. I also love the smell of pink grapefruit which makes it great to use in the morning, to help wake you up. Asides from all that, it is a really good scrub. It lathers well and generally just feels like its doing a good job on my skin.

Mandara Spa Amber Heaven Conditioning Bath and Shower Cream
First of all this smells AMAZING! I got this as a present in a set along with a body cream and scrub which all have the same gorgeous smell of Sandalwood and Patchouli. This can be used just swirled in the bath or as a shower gel (cream) which is what I've been loving. If you ever get the chance, give it a good whiff as I'm sure you'll love it.

Bannana Muffins

Wednesday, 26 June 2013
So a couple of days ago, randomly, i decided i wanted to bake and had an urge to bake muffins, even though ive never tried making them before.
I found a recipe online that i liked and set about making bannana muffins (telling myself they were healthy because they had bananas in) and these were the outcome.
Not trying to blow my own trumpet but they were actually really tasty! I will definitely be experimenting and making different muffins and other little baking treats. Yum!
Maybe this will inspire you to do a little baking, and I've set myself a goal to do more cooking and baking as i do enjoy it once im actually doing it!

Collective Haul!

Tuesday, 25 June 2013
I couldn't restrain myself any longer and had to have a little splurge after keeping my pockets (or purse) tight! Here is what I've spent some dollar on over the past few weeks:

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum
Ive heard a lot about this foundation from people in this beauty world and thought it would be perfect for summer and holidays (where I've just got back from one) where it proved to be the case. I like a lighter base in the summer months and this fits the brief, giving a gorgeous 'healthy' glow.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
I wanted this for a while but seen as i was trying to not spend much i stopped myself, until  i misplaced my beloved buffing brush- i think I've left it at a friends house- and thought it was the perfect opportunity to finally buy it and so far, i love it. Sam Chapman you never let me down!

Real Techniques Blush Brush
In the same Feel Unique order i also treated myself to this brush which is another one I've wanted for a while. Its super soft and great for travelling as its multi tasking- blush/bronzer/powder, yay!

Sleek Face Contour Kit
For the third time already in this blogpost, id wanted this product for a while, repetitive i know I'm sorry. But seriously, I've used it everyday since I've got it which is just over a week. So good and so affordable, whats not to love?

Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder
Ive already got this powder but the lid had broken and so was rubbish with travelling and due to me going on holiday i thought id buy another one and so could finally take my favourite powder in my makeup bag. I got it in the transparent shade this time just so i could switch between the two depending on how my skins behaving.

Batiste Dry Shampoo- Coconut and exotic tropical
Needed another dry shampoo and thought id live life on the edge and try a different scent. Nothing much more to say with this apart from that Batiste is my favourite brand of dry shampoo.

Avon Speed Dry Nail Varnish- Sprightly Mint + Crystal Calm
Thought these both looked like really nice shades, especially Sprightly Mint for summer and were a bargain at around £2 (i think)

Simple Kind to Skin Protecting Moisture Cream
Thought id try this moisturiser as i like Simple and i love their branding of only having what is needed in their products. It also has an SPF in it which makes it great for the summer months.

H+M Denim Jacket- http://www.hm.com/gb/product/14762?article=14762-A
I've been loving all things denim at the minute and i really wanted a new, 'trendier' denim jacket as the one i previously had was ridiculously small and old and hadn't been worn for a good 3/4 years (really need to have a wardrobe sort out!). I think denim jackets can be worn to dress up or dress down an outfit, depending on what your wearing and just add a little something. They're also perfect for us British peeps, as they add a layer to an outfit in our unpredictable summer without being the heaviness of a coat.

Primark Brogues
I also popped into Primarni and picked up these really cute brogue style shoes/ pumps which are dark blue and will just go with any outfit and were only a tenner.

New Look 'Madison' shoes
These are an imitation of converses and when i saw them in New Look for only £12.99 i just had to get them. They may not be real converses and have the same quality but i love them for such a great price. I love to pair them with a dress or a more 'dressy' outfit to just make it seem more casual and give it a certain edge.

Okay, i actually spent more than i originally thought, woopsies!

Hope you enjoyed this loooong blogpost on my recent purchases.
