Whats in my bag?
Saturday, 31 August 2013
My everyday bag for a good number of months now is this one i actually bought from Avon. I think it was one of those deals they do when if you spend a certain amount you get something else discounted. The figure in my mind is saying £15 however i don't think you can buy it any longer as its not on the Storm website, which is mostly known for its watches. It's a really good bag that goes with any outfit and although it looks small, its like Mary Poppins' bag and my friends are always surprised at how many items i can pull out of it.
So, what its in my bag:
From going through my bag, its clear to see ive got so much rubbish in there and it is now time for a good clear out!
- Purse, purhcased from a little boutique near where i live
- Galaxy Ripple Wrapper, which was yummy!
- Ipod (which is actually broken)
- London Underground tube map, from a little holiday to London in November, oops!
- Body Shop Born Lippy- Strawberry
- Rainbow Nerds Lip Balm- nicest tasting thing ever!
- Tomato Ketchup Sachet (don't know why)
- Numerous scrunched up bus tickets
- Empty 5 Instinct chewing gum packet
- Paracetamol
- River Island Gift Card
- Numerous train tickets, some of which are very old
- Fold out brush with mirror
- Tram ticket
- Mirror
- Avon lipstick- Rouge Luxury
- Two gummy bears, oh dear
- Extra strawberry flavoured chewing gum
- Cheap 'best friend' bracelet my friend got me as a joke
- Halls soothers (looking rather scraggy)
- A trusty umbrella

Beachy Waves/Curls
Thursday, 29 August 2013
For the past few months, this is the hairstyle I've been doing the most. It's quick and easy to achieve and looks effortless. I like to start with freshly washed and blow dried hair, just so it lasts longer. If you really want to get that beachy texture, wash your hair using a shampoo and conditioner such as Bumble and Bumble Surf Shampoo and Conditioner. However, i usually use just my normal hair washing routine.
Once the hair is dried, section it off leaving the bottom layer of hair. This is essential for me as my hair is so thick however if you have thin or short hair, you may not have to do this although i always find it much easier. I then like to spray this bottom layer with heat protection and brush it through to make you sure its evenly covered and the hair is ready to be curled. My favourite is the Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray.
To achieve the curls/waves i use the Wella Pro- Curl Conical Wand and holding the wand facing down, i wrap different, random sized sections around it. I prefer to take quite big sections of hair to get a looser wave/curl. For most of my hair i alternate the direction in which i wrap my hair around the wand and there is no real pattern to it. This allows you to get much more messy waves. Its only when i get to the front, where i make sure i curl the very front pieces away from my face, just to frame it a little. However, how you style your fringe/bangs/parting depends on your own hairstyle.
I only leave the hair for a few seconds, so once again its more of a wave although to create extra texture and when i want a bit more 'oomph' i do hold certain sections for slightly longer so you have the contrast of curls and waves to make it more 'messy'.
Once all the hair is styled i spray in a salt spray and then scrunch my hair. I've been loving the Tigi Catwalk Session Series Salt Spray to once again get much more texture and achieve beachy and dishevelled waves. It's now time for hairspray to hold the look, although i do like how it drops slightly throughout the day so I used the L'oreal Elnett Satin in normal strength. Once I've hairsprayed, i sometimes add more salt spray just to reinforce the texture and get it just how i like it.

I wrote about this nail varnish briefly in a post about my summer essentials and the other day, when i painted my nails with this colour i fully appreciated how great it is. I don't think I've had so much love for a nail varnish in a long time.
I was in a massive rush and i needed to paint my nails and in rubbish lighting, quickly did a first coat. Despite being ultra quick, i made no mistakes (something that barely happens) and i put it down to the brush. In a only a couple of strokes the nail was done. The colour at this point was good and could of easily been left as it was but in being so quick, i realised i had enough time to do a second coat. After the second coat the colour was really intense and gorgeous and literally straight after painting, i rushed out the door. The nail polish didn't smudge despite carrying several items in my hands and so the drying speed must also be pretty good, perfect for anyone who cant sit still for longer than 2 seconds. I know i always find loads of things i want to do right after painting my nails, which only leads to a disaster!
I had no time for a top coat yet the finish was glossy and shiny and one of the best things about it, it lasted 5 days without any chipping and still being as shiny as when i first painted them- without a top coat! Say what?!
I honestly don't want to stop wearing this nail varnish now until the end of summer, its perfect and i love it! Its definitely going to become a long time favourite!

Stargazing.
Tuesday, 13 August 2013
Space and stars is something that really fascinates me. Everything to do with it baffles and amazes me. These past few days I've spent the evenings/ nights stargazing, as for some reason i don't understand, there is increased star activity such as shooting stars over these couple of days every year in august.
Sitting out until midnight with candles, a blanket and family and friends with Bob Marley's soothing tunes in the background is a great, relaxing way to spend the evening. We got really excited every time we saw a shooting star or a satellite and it really made me appreciate that great company and doing something so simple can be so unbeatable.
If its a clear night, get outside and just gaze at the sky, as there still should be shooting stars and it is something that is so amazing to view.
Hope you didn't mind this geek'd out post and if you do get the chance to watch the night sky, enjoy the show!
Make-up wishlist!
Sunday, 11 August 2013
Does anyone else have an ever growing wishlist of makeup that they want? Cos i certainly do and i can tell you its pretty large! (Poor bank balance). So I thought id share with you my top few wanted makeup items at the minute!
Maybelline New York The Falsies Volume Express Flared MascaraThis is next on my list of mascaras to try with so many people raving about it, especially Tanya Burr who states its her favourite mascara and she will have tried so many! I prefer volumising mascaras as i naturally have very long (but fair) eyelashes and so any that add volume are a hit straight away.
Illamasqua Cream Blusher- Rude
This just looks a gorgeous product, like all Illamasqua makeup. Illamasqua is a brand I've not tried yet although I've wanted to purchase something from it for a while and this is top of my list!
Mac Cream Colour Base- Pearl
I've been getting more and more into cream products and I've seen this in videos and it looks a beautiful highlighter. Powder highlighters can be too shimmery for me sometimes and i think a cream like this will give the perfect glow to the tops of your cheekbones.
Sleek Blush by 3- Lace
Sleek blushes are known to be really pigmented (like most of Sleek products) and I've seen lots of really good reviews of these blushers. You get 3 high quality and gorgeous shades for only a tenner.
Urban Decay Basics Palette
Now I've really wanted this for ages, since it came out and I've no idea why I've not bought it yet. I find it hard to find good matte shadows and this palette just looks perfect for me and my neutral eyeshadow ways.

Summer beauty essentials: Makeup and Nails
Thursday, 8 August 2013
Like in fashion, trends change during the four seasons and this is no different in how your beauty essentials change in the summer months to keep you looking fresh and achieving that perfect summer glow.
Here are just a few of the products I've been loving so far this summer.
Bourjois healthy mix serum- 52
It's nice in the summer months to have a much lighter base so your face doesn't feel cakey and makeup is much less likely to sweat off in the heat and I've been loving this foundation. Its lightweight and gives a glow in the right places, looking natural yet covering what needs to be covered. I don't know if it is just me but in the summer my skin tends to be a lot clearer due to the vitamins from the sun and generally just being outside more.
Nars Laguna Bronzer
Bronzer is a must have in the summer and like many people Nars Laguna is the choice for me. I'm a newbie when it comes to having this is in my collection although i had wanted it for ages and I've usually been putting it basically all over; cheeks, temples, forehead, down the nose and a dash on the chin (yeah everywhere), to tan my face a little and leave me with a bronzed glow.
Benefit Posie Tint
A cream blush keeps the skin glowy and adds a natural hint of colour and this poppy pink shade gives a really pretty flush to your cheeks, keeping you looking fresh.
Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick- 12
I love wearing a bright coral/ orange lip at this time of the year as it just screams summer and can make it look like you've spent ages doing your makeup, when it actually fact you've done a 5 minute speed job! I love the Kate Moss lipsticks, they have great pigmentation and lasting power and this shade is really flattering on all skin tones.
Nails:
Rimmel London Lycra Pro- Coral Romance
As the name suggests, this is a bright coral and as I've already mentioned, you cant go
wrong with coral in the summer! The brush is really wide and so you can paint your nail in only a couple of strokes, meaning your much less likely to go wrong (yay!)
Nails Inc- Royal botanical Gardens
I really like Nails Inc nail varnishes, they do some gorgeous shades and they last really well on my nails. I love this new colour and its perfect for summer!
Essie- Fiji
Yep, its the classic Essie Fiji. This is typed and talked about so much but it really is a lovely colour which looks even better with a tan. For anyone that's been living under a rock, its a very light pinkish white and i just LOVE the way it looks!
